This is one of the top routes in Switzerland's cycling country with a sporty 500 kilometres in seven daily stages: Between Rorschach and Montreux, the Alpine panorama route winds its way up to 2000 metres and crosses several Alpine passes along the way - mostly challenging to pedal, but with sensational views. The start is relatively gentle with a leisurely roll-in on the lakeside paths along Lake Constance. But a brisk up and down begins in the hilly Appenzell countryside. The Linth plain offers some respite, but the hills get steadily higher towards the south. The highest point is reached at the Klausen Pass at almost exactly 2000 metres. The Alpine finale is a descent over 1000 metres in altitude down into the Rhône valley to Aigle. The last few kilometres are then a leisurely ride along the Rhône cycle path to Montreux on Lake Geneva. On this seven-stage cycle tour, you can experience the panorama of the Swiss Alps to the full. And if your strength starts to wane, tired cyclists can take the PostBus or train transport at various points to make the worst climbs easier.
