After a few kilometres through the metropolis, you head out into Brandenburg's Blue North, i.e. the Ruppiner Seenland, the popular water area between Berlin and the Mecklenburg Lake District. Many avenues, manor houses and old villages characterise the section through the wide meadows and heathland. There is no shortage of beautiful lakes along the route, especially between Fürstenberg, Neustrelitz, Waren and the Hanseatic city of Rostock, where a cultural stop is recommended. After the ferry trip across the Baltic Sea, welcome to Falster, Møn and Zealand. Heading north to Copenhagen, the long-distance cycle route often leads close to the coast from island to island over dams and bridges with beautiful views of fjords and straits. Old trading towns such as Nykøbing Falster with half-timbered houses, cobbled streets and interesting museums are also located along the route through the south of Denmark. For the entire route from Berlin to Copenhagen, you should allow around 10 to 14 days, depending on your fitness level and cultural interests, although Copenhagen alone deserves a few interesting sightseeing days.
