Everyone knows the shots: A bear - often the smaller black bear - roaming through the forest next to the trail. These and similar images are mostly from Canada or Alaska. There, the animals have a larger habitat and are not displaced by the growing population. In Europe - especially in the tourist regions - there are therefore few or no bears left.
In Slovakia, on the other hand, the population density is less than half that of Germany. Brown bears are settling in the vast forests again, now that they are a protected species. However, encounters are rare. From the Malino Brdo Bike Park we are currently receiving completely different images:
In this video, a massive brown bear crosses the bike park track - between two gravity bikers. The bear joins the 'train' at full speed and, fortunately for the mountain bikers, swings back into the undergrowth. The explanation for the encounter is obvious: the bear also wanted to experience the flow of the trail and float in endorphin heaven. Fortunately, nobody was injured and the two cyclists escaped with a scare.
