Carinthia is a well-known and popular cycling destination. The well-developed, supra-regional cycle path network stretches as far as Slovenia and Italy and connects the bathing lakes of Millstätter See, Ossiacher See, Klopeiner See and Wörthersee, which are all as warm as 27 degrees.
Great service for cyclists: a railway line almost always runs along the official cycle paths. Travelling by bike without your own car is therefore almost effortless in Carinthia.

It is possible to take bicycles with you, but it is advisable to book in advance, especially if you are travelling with several people.
If you get on your bike in Spittal, you can choose between a long-distance cycle route lasting several days or shorter day or weekend tours. Either on the ADFC 5-star award-winning Drava cycle path via Villach a total of 366 kilometres to Maribor in Slovenia. Or on the Ciclovia Alpe Adria to Grado on the Italian Adriatic coast.
The regional train along the Drava Cycle Path takes up to 16 bikes, so that groups can also return to the starting point together.
The return journey from Italy can be made on the "Micotra" train. This runs from Udine in the direction of Villach. Around 12,000 bicycles are now transported on this railway line in the summer months, which has helped to preserve the previously much-discussed railway line. For the shorter routes along the Gail on the Gailtal cycle path or the Carnic cycle path or on one of the many lake routes, the "Einfach-raus Radticket" from ÖBB is a great addition. This Austria-wide network ticket is valid for ÖBB local and regional trains. And bicycles are also included here.
