Even in the high season in July and August, the Kustlinjen is a cycle route that is not too busy and is very well signposted. The direct proximity of the Baltic Sea and the many opportunities to change to ferries that bridge various arms of the sea or lead to the archipelago islands are always attractive.
The Kustlinjen is a relatively flat route of more than 500 kilometres, almost always along the coast from Västervik via Stockholm to Öregrund. A fairly quiet long-distance route that is very well signposted. The frequent opportunities to change to ferries and boats are interesting. Recommended for children aged ten and over.
Västervik - Stockholm - Öregrund
June to the beginning of September
Flights to Stockholm depart from several German airports with SAS and Lufthansa. Otherwise take the ferry from Kiel to Gothenburg or travel by car via Denmark. However, you should allow at least 1-2 days for travelling to and from Stockholm by boat or car.
Hotels are not plentiful everywhere, so we recommend camping sites with rental cabins or well-equipped youth hostels (book in advance from June to August!).
Or private accommodation: Look out for signs like stuga and rum!
