Good news for mountain bikers in Hunsrück and Saarland. The Erbeskopf trail park opened on 23 June. However, the trail park on the highest mountain in the Hunsrück is basically a bike park - because a drag lift takes visitors to the top. If you want to pedal the 150 metres in altitude yourself, choose the "self-pedalling" ticket and save eight euros on the lift ticket. So far, two runs are available: the Wildcat (red) and the Schinderhannes (black), with a blue run due to be built in 2018. A total of eight runs are planned in two further construction phases. Great importance was attached to environmental compatibility during the planning phase. The terrain on the Erbeskopf, with its attractive topography and favourable geographical location, is unique. Similar to ski slopes, the MTB trails are divided into three categories - blue, red and black.

There are also fresh trails at Lake Weissensee in Carinthia. Here, three new trails wind their way approx. 370 metres down into the valley. The chairlift provides support on the ascent. In addition to the single trail descent under the Weißensee chairlift, which was completed in spring 2017, two new trails have been added for 2018. The first was already very promising: a trail builder had created a 2.8-kilometre-long and extremely varied natural flow trail in the undergrowth. If you want to try out the new trails, you should visit in September 2018. The Autumn Trail & Test Days will take place at Lake Weissensee from 14 to 16 September.

Trail Land Miesenbach was opened in Joglland in Styria in July 2018. The Austrians impressively demonstrate how you can build fun bike trails without a huge difference in altitude. The trails in the trail park, which were built around an old drag lift, are laid out in different stages and invite you to combine them. Instead of long, risky downhill runs, the most family-friendly trail park in the country offers short fun trails for beginners, advanced riders, ladies, seniors and kids. From the kids' area with kids' trail, pump track and practice course to the exciting "Pipe Line", the dynamic "Flow Line" and the "Forest Fun Trail" to the "Panorama Circle" with great views, all levels of riding technique are catered for. More trails are set to follow in the coming years.
