Kids Mini-Bikepark Leogang: mountain biking fun even for the little ones
Kids Mini-Bikepark Leogang: mountain biking fun even for the little ones
The season at Bikepark Saalfelden Leogang is open. This pleases biking dads (and mums) and now the kids too. Because brand new this year: the Kids Mini Bike Park with currently five routes especially for children - and the pump track will be added on 16 May.

A biking holiday with the family is nice, but often means: either real biking or family, you can't have both. But Macher Orts makes it possible! Bikepark Leogang is expanding its route portfolio with six routes especially for children. The littlest ones can practise on their balance bikes in the Kiddy Park, while the older and more advanced young bikers can tackle challenging tests of courage on the freeride and drop lines - drop heights of up to 1.5 metres! There are also special routes for practising cornering and, from 16 May, the Mini Kids Pump Track with numerous tables, pumps and doubles - ideal for the little ones to gain their first bike park experience. Or an opportunity for one or two dads to keep up with their offspring.

The routes of Europe's largest children's bike park at a glance

Kiddy Park
The children's and practice course is equipped with eight wooden elements and 15 earth obstacles. The elements are no higher than 40 to 50 cm to prevent serious falls. The park is suitable for children on balance bikes right up to teenagers aged around 14. The course is also ideal for bike school training purposes. The park is 1 metre wide and gravelled with diabase.

Freeride
The freeride course has two steep wooden curves, tables, doubles, pumps, kickers and log passages. The conveyor belt provides convenient transport.

Drop Line
There are drops of five different heights on the line - 50 cm, 80 cm, 100 cm, 130 cm and 150 cm. The approach is 20 metres, the landing 10 metres and the run-out is 20 metres long. The drop is built completely straight in the approach and run-out areas in order to focus entirely on training the drops.

Long curves Line
This element is used to train the correct entry and exit of the bends. The conveyor belt provides convenient transport. Length: 80 metres.

Short curves Line
Short bends in quick succession perfect cornering skills, promote responsiveness and train smooth transitions. Transport is also provided by the conveyor belt. Length: 80 metres.

Mini Kids Pumptrack
You start on a slightly elevated start ramp made of wood and earth. The course then features numerous tables, pumps and doubles. As a characteristic feature of the pump track that gives it its name, the circuit can be ridden without pedalling, just by "pumping" the bike on the elements. However, due to the earth construction material, the pump track will only be usable in dry conditions. The opening will take place on 16 May.

The little ones can then get their first taste of racing at the Scott Junior Trophy as part of the Out of Bounds Festivals (from 20 - 23 June 2013) get a taste of the action. Children and young people aged three to 16 compete in various age groups for great prizes and places on the winners' podium.

Sebastian Brust was born in 1979 and was originally socialised on his grandmother's folding bike, but has mainly been riding studded tyres since his fifth birthday. Loves all kinds of bikes - and merging with nature. Believes that disc brakes are much safer today than they were 15 years ago and thinks he has helped with his brake and pad tests. However, the trained vehicle technology engineer very much regrets that the bicycle industry is orientating itself on what he considers to be the wrong ideals of the car industry. At BIKE, he corrects, produces and organises digital content on the website.
