A big sigh of relief for all Karwendel tour lovers: after two and a half years of fundamental renovation, the Falkenhütte is set to reopen in May 2020.

The Falkenhütte in the heart of the Karwendel is very popular with mountain bikers. In September 2017, the Alpine Club hut of the Munich Oberland section was temporarily closed for renovation. The new building was constructed in 2018 and the interior work on the listed mountain hut continued for a year. The reopening of the Falkenhütte is planned for May 2020. Gitta Beimfohr joined the BIKE travel resort during her tourism studies when the Strada delle 52 Gallerie on the Pasubio was closed to mountain bikers. Since Gitta crossed the Alps twice at racing speed, she has favoured multi-day tours - by MTB in the Alps or by gravel bike through the German low mountain ranges.
