Together with Leogang, Saalbach Hinterglemm is probably one of the oldest and best-known bike regions in Europe. The municipality is known for its passion for biking and attracts visitors with annual scene festivals. Park descents and single trails are difficult to separate here. There are five park trails. The X-Line: The Schattbergbahn takes you up 1000 metres in altitude. The first part is equipped with good-sized tables, then the route leads into the forest and winds its way down to the valley on forest floor and wooden bridges. Initially fun and with good table jumps, later steep and rough. If you want to ride the Milka Line, you have to get on the Kohlmaisbahn cable car in Saalbach. The almost three-kilometre-long run was specially designed for children and families and really only appeals to them. Hinterglemm is home to the two better-known bike park descents. These are the Blue Line and the Pro Line. However, they struggle with steep gradients. Some of them lead down narrow switchbacks without providing too much fun. The Pro-Line has more freeride potential and offers airtime lovers wooden gimmicks, drops and gaps. For the Z-Line, you have to go to the lift on the Zwölferkogel. It is the newest descent in Hinterglemm and is aimed at beginners and families. However, the almost four-kilometre run to the valley station is rather unspectacular and even park newcomers will only have a moderate amount of fun.
Many visitors come especially for the nature trails around Saalbach Hinterglemm. And not without reason! The Hacklberg and Bergstadl trails are real epic trails. For these two trails, however, you have to push your bike 20 minutes further up from the Schattberg summit station. It's worth it. Our favourite is the Hacklberg Trail. It winds its way down into the valley at a fast, flowing pace, partly built-up and with many combinations of bends - over ten kilometres long. The Bergstadl Trail also has its fan club. It is more technical, but doesn't offer quite as much flow.
Conclusion A real bike park arena with a wide variety of trails. The single trails provide plenty of flow without much external influence. However, the potential of the bike park trails is not fully utilised.
