The family-friendly bike region of Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis has always been characterised by its diversity. Five Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis locals talk about their favourite trails.

With its own bike park, bike school and breathtaking single trails, such as the Frommestrail or Högtrail, which are now known far beyond the borders of the region, Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis has long since made a name for itself as a biking paradise for riders of all ages. The brand-new Jochtrail is also set to live up to this image. With so much choice, the question inevitably arises: "Which trail should I ride?" To help you decide, we spoke to five Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis locals about their favourite trails and the biking region in general.


Christian Zangerl can now be described as a bike veteran of the region. Christian has been manager of the Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis bike park since 2016, but he first came to Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis in the winter of 2001. For him, it was "love at first sight, literally, as I not only fell in love with the region, but also with my partner."

Christian: "The open and friendly manner that I was met with right from the start is very special. The varied offer, whether summer or winter, sporty or relaxed, makes Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis a special place."

Who do you usually ride with in the bike park or on the trails?


Christian: "Mostly with friends and people who share my fascination with MTB, but occasionally on my own."

How do you like this article?


Which MTB innovation are you most looking forward to?


Christian: "We have worked together to revise some sections in the bike park. I'm most looking forward to the opening on 27 June and the feedback from our guests."


What is your favourite single trail/favourite bike park trail and why?


Christian: "The brand new Jochtrail is already my favourite of the single trails. I've already had the good fortune to ride it. The technical sections and the views are phenomenal. In the bike park, the Hill Bill is my absolute favourite trail. It's fast, rooty and technical - that's what a trail has to be like for me."


What should never be missing when you go on a bike tour?


Christian: "Friends and a good mood and an after-bike beer can also be included."

The Australian Daniel Newman originally came to Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis as a ski instructor and commuted back and forth between Austria and his home continent for a long time until he settled in the biking region after the birth of his son five years ago. He is now head of the local bike school.

What makes Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis so special for you?


Daniel: "It shines like the sun that shines on it for so long. It shines like children shine when they're having fun. Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis has a great infrastructure and there is always action and fun."


Who do you usually ride with in the bike park or on the trails?


Daniel: "I occasionally go out with my partner, but I spend most of my time on the pump track with my son. He just loves letting off steam there, lap after lap."


What is your favourite single trail/favourite bike park trail and why?


Daniel: "On the Frommestrail, I like to ride along the ridge line surrounded by the mountain peaks. What a view! Then I wind my way down the mountain and then through the tree line down into the valley."


What should never be missing when you go on a bike tour?


Daniel: "Quite a lot! Something to eat, water and a windproof jacket. Repair kit and an extra inner tube for the bike. And a mobile phone, of course! You need that for everything these days."

The bike guide from Germany Markus Sertl has lived and worked in Serfaus since 2010. He earns his living on the trails in the region.

What makes Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis so special for you?


Markus: "The diversity, the extremely strong cooperation between all the businesses - from the cable cars and accommodation providers to the tourism association and sports shops. For me, it has definitely become my home, as it offers everything for outdoor sports enthusiasts and mountain sports fans."


Who do you usually ride with in the bike park or on the trails?


Markus: "I spend most of my time on the trails and in the bike park with guests. Privately, of course, I ride with my best bike buddies - even spontaneously at the end of the day."


Which MTB innovation are you most looking forward to?


Markus: "I'm particularly looking forward to the new Jochtrail. I was already able to test a few sections last year - brilliant!"


What is your favourite single trail/favourite bike park trail and why?


Markus: "My favourite trail is definitely the Frommestrail, as it has everything to offer. An indescribable panorama, casual feeders, natural root sections and an insane length with more than 1,000 metres of depth."


What should never be missing when you go on a bike tour?


Markus: "Alongside the repair kit (multi-tool, inner tube, etc.), my smartphone is now my most important companion, so that my guests and friends can look forward to cool pictures at cool spots at the end of the day."

The only actual local of the locals presented here is Jenny Schöneberger - born in Ladis and has now lived on the sunny Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis high plateau for 25 years. She and her boyfriend Alex Koltai, who has lived in the region since last year, are employees of the Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis bike park.

What makes Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis so special for you?


Jenny & Alex: "The special thing about Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis is that every generation can find something to enjoy. Whether it's just the accommodation including free use of the gondola, hut fun, adventure hiking trails or looking for some action in the bike park - there's something for everyone."


Who do you usually ride with in the bike park or on the trails?


Jenny & Alex: "We prefer to be out on the bikes with our friends. Some of them are also our work colleagues."

Which MTB innovation are you most looking forward to?


Jenny & Alex: "To the coming summer season. As some sections of the bike park have been renewed. We can hardly wait and are already looking forward to the first test ride and are of course excited to see how it goes down with the enthusiastic bikers."


What is your favourite single trail/favourite bike park trail and why?


Jenny & Alex: "In our opinion, the Frommestrail is the most beautiful single trail in our region, as it is varied and has a lot to offer in terms of scenery."

What should never be missing when you go on a bike tour?


Jenny & Alex: "A casual trail on the descent."


The question of the one go-to bike for the Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis bike region, all our locals gave the same answer: "For such a diverse region, of course you need a diverse bike, which is why it's definitely an enduro!"

The Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis bike park and the surrounding single trails and MTB tours in the biking region can be accessed from the Opening on 27 June can be explored to your heart's content. In addition to the almost legendary Frommestrail, the brand new Jochtrail will also be available for the first time. The new 5.8 kilometre long, varied single trail is the direct connection from Fiss to Serfaus. The starting point of the high-altitude trail is the Schönjochbahn mountain station at 2,440 metres above sea level on the Fisser Joch. From there, the trail runs over the Mittlerer Sattelkopf to the Komperdellbahn middle station 500 metres below. The single trail includes natural sections as well as North Shore elements and runs parallel to the new Quellenweg trail.
