The Mercedes-Benz UCI Mountain Bike World Cup will be held for the second time in a row as a double World Cup in the downhill and cross-country disciplines, both over the Olympic distance and in short track, and guarantees top-class racing. In September, the scene then meets for the BIKE Festivalwhere young and old can try out the latest models from numerous bike companies and put them through their paces.
As always, in spring in Saalfelden Leogang, the sports equipment is changed and skis are swapped for bikes. The first shovel strokes can be heard on the lines and trails. The shapers of the bike park and the single trails in Saalfelden Leogang are already busy weeks before the opening with the renovation of the trails loved by bike fans. This season, mountain bikers can once again enjoy the new trails introduced last year, such as "Vali's Hölle" or the new entrance to the Hot Shots fired by GoPro Line (Photo at the top).
Sustainable trail building and nature conservation
The scene shapers Markus Hampl and Reini Unterberger completed their flagship trails "Schwarzleo" and "Forsthof Trail" back in 2019. By utilising the existing terrain and the lines defined by the forest, they created a special experience. The same applies to the "Knappen Trail" which - apart from playfully interspersed North Shore elements - meanders naturally through the mixed forest into the valley. In contrast to the bike park lines, the "Schwarzleo" and "Knappen" trails are open from the beginning of April and therefore even from the start of the Easter holidays.
World Cup, BIKE Festival and comeback of the treasure hunt in Bikepark Leogang
For the second time in a row, Leogang is hosting a Double World Cup took place. 629 athletes from 44 nations competed last year, from the 10-12 June the world's best mountain bikers from the downhill and cross-country disciplines will once again be in Salzburg. The coveted tickets for the multi-day mountain bike party are already available and are sure to sell out soon. It pays to be quick!
Also the BIKE Festival is in 2022 from 16-19 September will once again be taking part. Year after year, the well-known festival offers a variety of bike brands, numerous test bikes and new, as yet unreleased models and products. Here, everyone can find the right bike for their riding style and test it extensively on the wide range of trails at Bikepark Leogang, which is completely available to festival participants. Of course, workshops and tours with the stars of the scene are also part of the programme.
The treasure hunt is celebrating a comeback: a treasure map with tricky puzzles provides clues to the locations where the solution letters can be found. These are changed every fortnight and visitors can play several times to increase their chances of winning. The prizes will be awarded during the BIKE Festival. The lucky winner can look forward to a gigantic package with prizes from Scott, Maxxis, EVOC and many other brands. You can take part in the treasure hunt until the end of August.
