Practical and lightweight: chain lock pliers for travelling
The chain lock is the practical and, above all, quick way to lock the chain. Unfortunately, the locks are almost impossible to open without pliers. But this tool from Wollf Tooth can do even more.

Chainrings, climbing sprockets, axle adapters: Wolf Tooth Components is known for its retrofit solutions and adapters in the drivetrain and shifting sector. And for accessory control levers for telescopic seat posts. With the so-called Pack Tools, the US company is also tapping into the area of high-quality but particularly small and, above all, lightweight tools for travelling. The multifunctional chain lock pliers with the full name "Master Link Combo Pliers" is the perfect addition to any mini tool.

The tool has five functions that are not available on any other tool: The chain lock pliers naturally open and close all standard 9- to 12-speed chain locks (Sram Powerlock Link, Shimano Quick-Link, KMC Missing Link and others). The pliers handle serves as a tyre lever (not for carbon rims) and as a storage box for up to two chain locks. Also on board: a valve core remover and pliers for loosening valve nuts, which can be very tight, especially on tubeless systems. A magnet that keeps the chain locks inside and the tool closed rounds off the equipment list.

Made in America from black anodised aluminium, the Wolf Tooth Master Link Combi Pliers measure a compact 116 mm x 20 mm x 9 mm, weigh just 38 grams according to the manufacturer and are available at a price of 29.95 euros. Individual colour accents can be set using the connecting screw. This is available in the colours black, red, blue, gold or green.

Sebastian Brust was born in 1979 and was originally socialised on his grandmother's folding bike, but has mainly been riding studded tyres since his fifth birthday. Loves all kinds of bikes - and merging with nature. Believes that disc brakes are much safer today than they were 15 years ago and thinks he has helped with his brake and pad tests. However, the trained vehicle technology engineer very much regrets that the bicycle industry is orientating itself on what he considers to be the wrong ideals of the car industry. At BIKE, he corrects, produces and organises digital content on the website.
