Step-by-step instructions for building a multitool holder yourself

Customised DIY: Tailor-made for every conceivable mini-tool: the tool holder for those on a budget. A piece of sheet aluminium, an old inner tube and some tools - that's all you need for this simple DIY project.

The first step is to give an aluminium sheet about two millimetres thick the right shape: Place the mini-tool on it and mark it. Please note: A bar about three centimetres wide and five centimetres long is required to attach it under the bottle cage.

Saw out the shape with a hacksaw (alternatively tin snips). Pre-drill the corners to obtain clean edges. Deburr the edges with a metal file and round off the corners. The best way to do this is to clamp the sheet metal blank in a vice.

Using a 5 mm metal drill bit (depending on the screw diameter), drill a hole at the end of the fastening bar (deburr!). The bar is now bent by 90 degrees by hand. To do this, clamp the sheet firmly in the vice exactly at the fold.

To prevent the tool from rattling and slipping, the carrier plate is covered with a tube. Cut this to length and then carve a slot for the bar (already drawn up in the picture). The tool is also attached with a tube.
