The US accessory specialist Feedback Sports is expanding its range of tools for bicycle mechanics with a new torque spanner. The Range Twist covers a torque range from 2 to 10 Newton metres and is characterised by its ease of use and high precision. According to the manufacturer, the compact spanner is suitable for both professional workshops and ambitious DIY mechanics. Thanks to its mini format, it is also ideal for taking on tour.

Simple setting and operation

The central feature of the Range Twist is the rotating adjustment ring on the handle. This allows the desired torque to be set continuously between 2 and 10 Nm. The current setting is displayed on a scale on the handle. To tighten a screw, the spanner is used like a normal ratchet spanner. As soon as the set torque is reached, the internal mechanism triggers and prevents over-tightening. According to Feedback Sports, this design enables a very precise torque setting with an accuracy of +/- 4 per cent.

Compact design for mobile use

With an overall length of 170 millimetres and a weight of 170 grams, the Range Twist is compact and light enough to take with you on tours or when travelling. The head of the spanner has a quarter-inch socket for bits. Six common bits are included in the scope of delivery: Hexagon socket in sizes 3, 4, 5 and 6 millimetres as well as Torx T25 and T30. According to the manufacturer, these cover most of the relevant screw connections on modern bicycles. Additional bits can be purchased separately if required.

Robust construction for continuous use

The body of the Range Twist is made of high-strength aluminium, while the handle is covered with non-slip plastic. This should ensure safe handling even with oily or sweaty hands. According to Feedback Sports, the internal mechanism is designed for durability and is designed for at least 5000 releases. The manufacturer gives a two-year guarantee on the key. Feedback Sports recommends an annual calibration to regularly check the accuracy.

Versatile application possibilities on the bike

The torque range of 2 to 10 Nm covers most critical screw connections on the bike. These include the attachment of stems, handlebars, seat posts and seat clamps. The Range Twist is also suitable for sensitive carbon components, as it reliably prevents over-tightening. Thanks to its compact design, the spanner can also reach hard-to-reach places on the bike, according to the manufacturer. The integrated ratchet function also enables efficient working without having to constantly reposition the tool.
