Reader Ferdinand W. wonders whether the child trailer on the MTB bike is a good idea: "What interests me from a technical point of view as a Chariot-riding bike dad: Should I expect increased bearing wear on fullys due to the additional weight? In my case, that's 85 kilos of weight, plus 25 kilos for the trailer with child, plus 12.5 kilos of bike."
Answer from Lutz Scheffer, bike developer: "With a two-track trailer like the Chariot, the MTB fully or the bearings on the rear triangle are not subjected to any increased load. The axle coupling also protects the rear triangle from torsion in the event of a fall. With a single-track trailer like the Tout Terrain Singletrailer, it's a different story, as it causes more torsion."
You should not attach the child trailer to the carbon dropout using the axle coupling!
