Adjustment: Sram presents a new chain gap tool to perfectly adjust the distance between the derailleur pulley and sprocket on Sram Eagle MTB drivetrains.

In the Endurance test of the Canyon Neuron CF 9.0 in BIKE 11/2020, we reported on problems with a Sram X01 Eagle rear derailleur. First, the upper derailleur pulley broke, then the cage also came loose when riding over the single trail.

We had described our experiences at the time without getting to the bottom of the problem. In the meantime, the Sram shifting engineers from Schweinfurt have taken a closer look at the defect. The result of the design engineers: "This damage pattern is not due to a weakness in the material or a poor design. The problems can occur if the distance between the upper derailleur pulley and the cassette is not precisely adjusted."

Chain gap tool fits all Sram cassettes

To avoid this, this summer Sram has developed a new Chain-Gap-Tool, which is now also for all twelve-way circuits works with large 52 sprockets. The white plastic gauge is included with every new rear derailleur. Unlike the red chain gap tool from the past, the new gauge is applied when the Chain on second gear (42 sprocket).
