5 torque spanners for the right torque on your MTB
After tight comes off. This is especially true for carbon components such as handlebars or stems. These five handy spanners with preset torque are good helpers for the workshop or jersey pocket.

TOPEAK Nano TorqBar

The slim Topeak Torpedo sits comfortably in the hand and is easy to operate thanks to its large lever. However, you should prick up your ears: The TorqBar indicates the torque achieved extremely precisely, but only with a very quiet click. The supplied box contains five bits. Up to four of them can be stored in the tool's clever handle. This means that it fits into even the smallest bag when travelling.

RITCHEY 6-Bit Torque Key

Small, compact and light. The Ritchey tool is really very handy. However, due to the small handle, it is difficult to operate and presses uncomfortably into the fingers and palm. It engages gently at around 5.2 Newton metres and is therefore still sufficiently precise. The six bits are transported on a practical rubber rondel, which is simply attached to the tool.

Execution 4 / 5 Nm
Tools 3 / 4 / 5 / T20 / T25 /Philips #1

PEDRO'S Fixed Torque Driver

The heavy Pedro's spanner sits comfortably in the hand and has a high-quality finish, as do the three bits supplied. It is easy to operate using the large wings. It indicates the torque achieved with a loud click and is clearly perceptible. In the test, however, the value achieved was 5.9 Newton metres, well above the manufacturer's specification. More suitable for the workshop than for travelling.

DURANOVA torque spanner

The inexpensive Duranova spanner is available in a comparable design from various manufacturers. Although the plastic handle is not of a particularly high quality, just like the two bits, it fits well in the hand. However, the version with 6 Newton metres triggers far too early in the test, at around 4.3 Nm with a loud cracking noise, and is therefore not really suitable for the precise assembly of carbon parts.

BIRZMAN M-Torque Ranger

The M-Torque Ranger contains five bits and two tyre levers. To set the torque, the thumb and index finger must be positioned on two defined points, otherwise the values quickly deviate. This is not exactly comfortable when tightening screws. At around 5.6 Newton metres, the torque achieved is still reasonably acceptable. A practical tool for the saddle or jersey pocket.
