On 24 and 25 September, the Kidical Mass alliance will be demonstrating for the second time this year and calling for "more safety in road traffic". The format focusses on children and sustainable mobility. A total of 40,000 people took part in the first Kidical Mass demonstration in May.

"This time it's a special demonstration," explains the Kidical Mass alliance, which is supported by numerous partners such as the ADFC, Greenpeace and the Clean Cities Campaign. With a petition from children and representatives of the alliance, political leaders in various cities are collecting signatures in favour of child-friendly road laws. So far, over 80,000 signatures have been collected.

Wherever you cycle, it should be safe

Whether in the countryside or in the city: wherever you cycle, it should be safe. "We are adapting our children to an environment with more and more cars and putting them in high-visibility waistcoats instead of improving the infrastructure," explains Kidical Mass organiser Simone Kraus. "A child-friendly transport system has numerous positive effects: It not only protects our children, but also the ever-growing group of older people, it helps people with limited mobility, the climate and the health of us all." That is why road traffic law needs to be revised from the ground up. Nobody should feel unsafe when riding a scooter or bicycle.

According to the campaign alliance, tens of thousands of people, both young and old, are taking to the streets in over 160 cities and towns on various two-wheelers to demonstrate for greater road safety. People are also demonstrating abroad.

All further information about the demonstration (including where it will take place) is available at here.
