Canyon wants to protect its customers for the future with an insurance package included with the purchase of a bike.

Together with the insurtech company Qover, Canyon wants to integrate an insurance package with the purchase of a bike. The process is starting in Germany and three other European countries.

In which countries is the insurance package available?

As the idea is to be used in various countries, it was initially difficult to find an insurance partner with whom this special insurance package could be offered in the targeted countries. With Qover, Canyon has found a partner with whom the project can be realised - initially in France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany. The company was founded in 2016, is active in 32 countries across Europe and has its headquarters in Brussels. In the near future, the insurance package will also be launched in the UK, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Italy, Spain and Portugal. "The customer experience doesn't end when the bike is delivered to the front door. It is therefore very important that our partner can help us to introduce an insurance product worldwide with a single integration," explains Christian Steyer, Head of Customer Solutions at Canyon.

What is covered?

"Instead of thinking about a stolen or broken bike, Qover helps customers to focus on what's really important," adds Steyer. The package not only includes theft protection. Property damage caused by an accident, animals or vandalism, as well as the replacement of the bike or accessories and the reimbursement of repairs are also covered by the insurance package. In addition, the transport of the bike and the journey home is covered in the starting countries. In emergencies, cash is provided in other countries.
