The fifth edition of the UCI Cycling Esports World Championships is coming up and the MyWhoosh platform has published the schedule for the public qualification races in August 2025. These races offer all verified riders the chance to qualify for the World Championships, in addition to nominations from national cycling federations. Four qualifying races are scheduled, which will take place on different days and at different times in order to include participants from all over the world. The races are gender segregated, with the women's races always taking place before the men's races. The new format comprises a single race over 32.4 kilometres with two sprint classifications and two mountain classifications. Points will be awarded to the first riders to complete these segments, a change from the previous time-based points system.
The four qualifying races are scheduled for 6, 8, 22 and 27 August 2025. Successful verification through MyWhoosh is required to participate. Riders who have taken part in the Sunday Race Club at least once in the last six months are deemed to have already been verified and are therefore directly eligible to take part. Those interested can take part in one or all races. The top riders in each category will qualify for the semi-finals of the 2025 UCI Cycling Esports World Championships. The results and list of semi-finalists will be announced in September 2025 after the nominations from the national federations have been confirmed.
Following the conclusion of the national and public qualifying races, a total of 150 men and 150 women will qualify for the semi-finals, which will take place on 3 October 2025. The semi-finalists will compete in a three-stage event that follows the format of the live finals of the championships. All participants must belong to a national federation. The top 20 male and female riders in each category will receive an invitation to the live final on 15 November 2025 in Abu Dhabi. MyWhoosh will award semi-final places to the top ranked riders from the open qualifying races who have not been selected by their federations.
