The German Enduro Mountain Biking Championships should actually have started in August. as part of the BIKE Festival in Willingen should have taken place. Unfortunately, the event fell victim to the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic and with it the Enduro-DM. However, the excitement about the cancelled competitions quickly subsided when RC Germania Weissenburg agreed to host the event. national title fights 2021 in Treuchtlingen to be carried out.

The German enduro elite and hundreds of enthusiastic amateur bikers met today for a big test of strength on the trails around Treuchtlingen. The training runs on Saturday were cancelled in favour of infection protection. On all six stages, the participants battled for seconds "blindly", so to speak, and without precise knowledge of the route. However, four of the downhill stages were mostly on the officially signposted trails. Haymaking trails. So those who know their way around there could gain an advantage at one or two key points.

Pedalling-intensive, entertaining and wet in places: Even without breakneck obstacles, the stages in Treuchtlingen were the scene of thrilling racing action for the German championship title. In the men's event alone, 157 Enduro riders cranked their way around the almost 30-kilometre circuit with 700 metres of elevation gain. However, only those participants with a licence are included in the German Championship classification. After the times of the individual stages were added up for all participants, the DM title went, as expected, to the former champion Christian Textor (Bulls). His time: 8:06.69 minutes. Four seconds behind, 19-year-old Lauritz Herrmann took second place. Third place went to Max Pfeil from SC Korb.

The top step of the podium in the women's race also went to the former champion Raphaela Richter (Juliana). She fought a heated battle with Downhill World Cup winner Nina Hoffmann (Santa Cruz), but was ultimately able to snatch the title with a 4.5 second lead. Adding up the stage times, Tanja Naber (Juliana) crossed the finish line in third place, 23.5 seconds behind.

There was something for everyone: competitions were also held for the U13, U15, U17 and U19 junior categories. However, only the U19 male race was categorised as a German championship. After the race, problems with the timekeeping on the sixth stage caused a stir. The timekeeping trigger was too close to the pre-start, which meant that some riders' times were already running while they were still waiting in the gate for their actual start. To ensure a fair competition, the jury decided to remove the last stage from the classification. Apart from the Masters men's podium, the missing stage had no effect on the top ranks.
