Despite further easing of the corona restrictions, there is no security for the traditional staging of the EBM Seiffen on the first weekend in August. The organisers from Saxony have therefore opted for Plan B. The EBM 2020 will take place this year as an "EBM-Individual". In other words, an individual time trial as a replacement for the EBM. The interactive race can be run on any day from 1 July to at least 30 September. There are two variants to choose from: the "EBM Tour" and the "EBM Individual Start Race". As always, there are bronze, silver and gold route lengths (32 / 64 / 96 km). Young bikers can also let off steam in the "EBM Mini".
All routes are signposted: The EBM routes with red EBM letters and direction arrows and the EBM-Mini with blue signs. You ride at your own risk and the rules of the StVO must be observed on public roads.
A photo from the bike computer or sports watch serves as proof of the performance achieved. An entry on a trust basis is also possible - so hand on heart, be honest and show fair sportsmanship! Each participant then enters their result via a personal link and uploads the Strava link and/or a photo from the bike computer or watch as proof.
The tour version of the Ergebirgs-Bike-Marathon 2020 will be ridden at a slower pace. There is no timekeeping. The focus here is on the special experience in nature and testing your own fitness. The complete start package with starter number is of course still available. Riders will be listed in a finisher list on the EBM homepage, as bronze, silver or gold finishers depending on the chosen route length.
The "EBM Individual Start Race" is a hotly contested event. The fastest drivers are determined and crowned the winners. Of course, there are also tempting prizes. Timekeeping is best done via Strava. However, a photo from the recording device or an entry on a trust basis are also permitted. The "EBM-Individual Race" calls for true men of honour. For the particularly ambitious: You can start several times with the start number and on all routes. So it remains exciting throughout the season!
The youngsters run a distance of 7.5 kilometres (U11 and U13 age groups) or 15 kilometres (U15 and U17 age groups) together with their parents. The routes are signposted with blue EBM signs. The youngest junior bikers (AK U5 / U7 / U9) will be sent a start number and participant medal by post (if not on site in Seiffen). Together with mum or dad, the toddlers can then pedal any route they want - whenever and wherever they want. After entering their name in the finisher list and uploading a photo, they will receive their long-awaited EBM certificate.
In the event that the coronavirus restrictions continue to be eased in the coming period, the EBM organisers are planning exciting "Race Days". Small events are to take place on selected weekends, possibly with test bikes from the sponsors. A night tour and a camping weekend are currently on the list of ideas. And if it is possible, the organisers promise to do everything they can for a small race on the first weekend in August.
Registration takes place online via the EBM Homepage from. Participants who have already pre-registered can decide by 20 June whether they want to take part or not. In the event of non-participation, the credit balance can be used to choose from the same number of races next year - even if the entry fees increase in 2021. A refund is also possible. The exact details of the announcement will soon be published on the EBM homepage.
