One hour of crisp action, duels in a confined space, the heart rate at the limit: there are only three weeks to go until the E-Mountainbike World Cup in the Cross Country discipline is held on 2 and 3 September on the Bielstein forest course in the Bergisches Land region, which is known from motocross.
"In mountain biking, cross country basically describes exactly the type of mountain biking that we are used to in the Oberberg region," says Robin Hannes from organiser MSC Bielstein. "The scenic conditions are used, without the metre-wide jumps that we know from downhill, but very close to nature."
The e-mountainbike route winds its way across the entire area around the forest course. Where the spectator paths usually run, the e-bikers are now out and about. Peppered with the odd obstacle in the form of stones and roots, the course is challenging under competitive conditions, with extreme obstacles such as the World Championships in Les Gets or Glasgow is not to be expected.
The track is designed so that it can be travelled in both directions. The races will take place anti-clockwise on Saturday and clockwise on Sunday. "In the end, it will come down to fitness and riding technique, especially uphill," says MSC Chairman Jörg Steinhausen.
In addition to the professional races, there will also be amateur races. Registration for this "E-MTB Fun Race", which will take place on both days of the event, has recently opened. The MSC Bielstein is looking forward to seeing where the starters will come from. The entry portal can be accessed via the event website at www.waldkurs.de.
