The ÖKK Bike Revolution Cup in Davos/Switzerland once again saw some of the best mountain bikers at the start - including Elias Hückmann from the BIKE Junior Team, for whom the weekend was particularly successful. In his race report, he provides exciting impressions of his cross-country race.

The ÖKK Bike Revolution Cup took place for the second time in the Swiss bike Eldorado of Davos. The trail network there comprises over 700 kilometres of single trails. Mountain bikers from all performance categories, from juniors to elite riders, competed in various disciplines on the race trails. Among them: a rider from the BIKE Junior TeamElias Hückmann (born 2008).

The start

On Saturday 29 June 2020, a race in Davos (Switzerland) from the ÖKK Bike Revolution Cup was on the race calendar for me. I was really looking forward to this race as I had competed in my last cross-country race around five weeks ago and was therefore very motivated at the start. The course suited me very well due to a relatively long climb. The downhill that followed was also a lot of fun due to the flowing passages. I started my race from the last row at 14:15.

The race

I was quickly able to work my way up a long, wide and sometimes steep climb through the fairly large field of around 60 riders and thus start the first lap with the leading group. At the start, on the same climb, I realised how my fellow riders were slowly but surely losing sight of my rear wheel in the battle for the front places. Now I was going all out for victory. After two of six laps, I had to be careful not to "overpace". So I rode at my own rhythm lap after lap.

After just under an hour, I was able to enjoy crossing the finish line with a larger gap (1:49 min.) to my pursuers. Overall, I thought the event in Davos was a great success, everything was well organised, everything ran smoothly and I particularly enjoyed the good atmosphere.
