Modern air suspension on MTBs requires precise tuning, which is not possible without a shock pump. But which pump really measures accurately? In our test, we tested 13 current shock pumps and present them here one after the other. Today: the Rockshox Fork/Shock Pump Digital.

Rockshox Fork/Shock Pump Digital - Equipment

Even the stylish cardboard packaging of the Rockshox pump looks high quality. But the pump itself also makes quite an impression. The housing and handle are made of metal, while the long hose is covered with a plastic braid for better protection in the workshop.

The pressure release button is located in front of the easy-to-read pressure gauge. However, there is no decoupling on the valve head. The pressure gauge displays the pressure (maximum 300 psi) in psi, bar and kg/cm3. The Rockshox damper pump has a hose clip on the housing.

Handling

Due to its length and high weight, the Rockshox is less suitable for the rucksack. However, it does an excellent job in the workshop. The pressure gauge works precisely down to 0.5 bar, and excessive pressure can be released in fine doses. Its very long hose rotates easily on the housing, so the distance to the fork or shock is large enough for comfortable pumping. Although the Rockshox shock pump requires a lot of hand force at high pressure, the knob hardly presses into the palm of the hand. The long valve head serves almost all valves and is easy to screw on and off. Air loss? Not even without decoupling. With the Rockshox, you get a durable and high-quality pump for extended tuning work in the workshop.

Measuring accuracy

There is also no reason to criticise the measured values. The pressure gauge measures below one hundred psi in 0.5 increments. At most it is off by 0.8 psi. Even at high pressure, the display of the Rockshox shock pump remains accurate to 1 psi, but then in increments of one.

Conclusion: Rockshox Fork/Shock Pump Digital

Due to its size alone, the Rockshox - which is also available from Fox, for example - is nothing for the rucksack. However, it does an excellent job in the workshop: the pressure gauge works precisely down to 0.5 psi, excessive pressure can be released in fine doses, the long hose increases comfort and the knob also sits comfortably in the hand. Thanks to the long valve head, the Rockshox serves almost all valves and is easy to screw on and off. Air loss? Not even without decoupling. Only the pump volume could be slightly larger given the length.
