Modern air suspension systems cannot be tuned without a damper pump. But which model really measures accurately? And are digital pumps better than analogue ones? We have tested 13 current shock pumps and present them here one by one. Today: the Pro Shock Pump Team.

Pro Shock Pump Team equipment

The anthracite-coloured Pro Shock Pump Team looks quite high quality. Only its knob handle doesn't look too solid. The shock pump is equipped with an easy-to-read digital pressure gauge and has both a 360-degree rotatable hose and a pressure release valve.

The valve head is a special feature: It is movably mounted and thus provides a little more flexibility during the pumping process. However, it is also quite short, which is a particular disadvantage with deep-seated valves. At 285 mm, the Pro shock pump is particularly long, and its 200 mm hose is also longer than most of the competition. This means that the pump is not ideal for small rucksacks or a hip bag.

Handling

However, the digital Pro is particularly impressive when used in the workshop. Its digital pressure gauge shows the exact pressure down to 0.5 bar. When pumping, the Shock Pump Team damper pump sits comfortably in the hand. Only at high pressure does it require a little more manual force and the knob presses slightly on the ball of the thumb. Due to its length, the pumping performance is also decent. The valve head is easy to screw on and is mounted on flexible bearings. Only deep-seated valves are difficult to reach. The well-placed release button can be adjusted very precisely.

Conclusion: Pro Shock Pump Team

Even if the Pro can't quite keep up with Rockshox or Lezyne in terms of quality, it is still a pump worth recommending. Its digital pressure gauge measures extremely precisely and is easy to read. Its length generates a lot of pressure per stroke and, apart from the somewhat hard knob, the Pro sits comfortably in the hand. The long hose and the flexible valve head make pumping easier - the only problems can be with valves that are positioned low down. The release valve can be finely adjusted and is also well positioned. The Team shock pump is just a little too big for travelling.
