The damper pump from 3min19sec is a standard model from a major manufacturer in Asia. Many brands do not produce their own damper pumps, but instead rely on the kit of mass producers. This pump can also be found in this design at Rockshox or Merida, for example, and at Fox with an alternative metal handle. We have included the 3min19sec pump in the test as a representative model.
The pump body is made of aluminium and the handle is made of plastic. The 17 cm long rubber hose can be secured here for transport. The pump has a 3.6 cm analogue pressure gauge with a maximum pressure range of 300 psi. A release button ensures that the pressure can be conveniently adjusted in small steps. The hose can be moved through 360 degrees. The pump head is long and slim to allow access to recessed valves. There is no additional pressure loss protection.
When screwing on the valve, the otherwise freely rotatable valve head gets stuck on the hose, so you have to turn the entire pump for the last few threads - annoying. Pumping is quite easy up to a pressure of around 150 psi. The piston slides smoothly in the cylinder. From then on, however, the pressure increases noticeably and the angular plastic handle presses a little into the palm of your hand. It is difficult to find a suitable grip position on the front of the pressure gauge. The pressure release valve is quite exposed and directly at the point where you would like to grip the pump. This can lead to accidentally releasing a little air from time to time. Otherwise, the pressure can be easily regulated using the easily accessible button. Even without a safety catch when unscrewing, the inexpensive pump does not lose pressure.

Even if the pressure on the analogue pressure gauge cannot always be read with psi accuracy, the scaling in steps of ten is sufficient for most settings. Especially as the scale is far out and therefore reasonably easy to read. The accuracy of the inexpensive pump is surprising. We were unable to detect a deviation greater than 2 psi in any measurement. Even at high pressures, the 3min19sec measures accurately.

The 3min19sec is a standard model from a major manufacturer that is also supplied with many complete bikes. For just 17 euros, you get a robust pump with which the set-up can be carried out precisely. Although the small display is difficult to read, the pump hits the tens exactly. The measured values are therefore generally quite accurate. The drain valve is not optimally positioned and is sometimes actuated accidentally. There is no decoupling on the valve head. Nevertheless, pressure is not lost when the valve is unscrewed.
