Lezyne Micro Floor Drive: Mini floor pump in test
The Micro Floor Drive from Lezyne is designed to utilise the advantages of a floor pump in a handy rucksack format. We tested the mini floor pump for travelling.

Pfffffft! A pessimist would probably think: "What a bummer! The first puncture 300 metres from home". An optimist, on the other hand, would be happy: "I can push home in five minutes, where I can repair the puncture". But it is rather the exception that you catch a flat tyre within walking distance of home. At such a time, a good air pump in your rucksack is indispensable. For large-volume mountain bike tyres and even larger plus-size tyres, it may also be a slightly larger model with decent pumping power. After all, nothing is more annoying than spending what feels like half an hour struggling with a mini pump only to be disillusioned to discover that there is only 1.1 bar of air pressure in the tyre.

Lezyne mini pump with fold-out stand

The Micro Floor Drive from Lezyne is typically Lezyne elegant and of high quality workmanship, but you would expect that at a price of almost 60 euros. Not only does it have a very large pumping capacity, it even has a fold-out stand. This makes pumping much easier, although the stand is a little wobbly. In addition, the screw valve can be reversed to operate Presta and auto valves. The air can also be released from the pump hose via a button on the valve. This makes it easier to unscrew the head after inflation. The scope of delivery also includes an attachment for balls, one for air mattresses and a plug for French valves.

If you don't want to pack the Lezyne pump in your rucksack, you can also attach it to the frame using a bracket. However, given the size of the pump, this makes little sense. At almost 31 centimetres, the Micro Floor Drive is relatively large, although at 208 grams it is quite light for its size. To ensure that you can continue your ride with the correct air pressure after a puncture, the 55 centimetre long hose is fitted with a rod pressure gauge. However, this serves more as a rough guide than for precise adjustment of the tyre pressure. Due to the pressure gauge and the long hose, the inherent resistance when pumping is somewhat high. In combination with the rather unergonomic T-handle, this detracts from the otherwise very good overall impression.

Conclusion on the test of the Lezyne Micro Floor Drive:

The Lezyne Micro Floor Drive is a high-quality mini floor pump for travelling and is particularly suitable for bikers who don't care about every gram, but do care about pumping performance and quality. It makes mountain bikers with voluminous plus-size tyres and fat bikes particularly happy.
