The All Around eMTB Race wants to go down in history as the first stage race specifically for e-mountainbikes. Four stages, 200 kilometres and 8,000 metres in altitude were on the agenda from 5 to 9 July 2022. A short version, half as long, offered the opportunity to get a taste of the new format.
The picturesque high mountain landscape of the Aosta Valley provided the backdrop for the race against the clock. The route linked the towns of Cogne, Antey-Saint Andrè, Gressoney, Valpelline and Pila - with a passage through the historic centre of Aosta.
Managing your own battery charge was just as much a daily task as navigation. In contrast to other races, the All Around eMTB Race was not guided by flutter tape and signposts, but by the tracks previously loaded onto the GPS.
With 88 participants from 6 countries, the starting field was not overly large, but it was obviously more than happy with the premiere. There will definitely be a sequel. Luca Santini, the organiser: "We are very satisfied and are already thinking about the next time. Stay tuned!"
