With the Barocon Carbon, POC is launching a brand-new full-face helmet, designed specifically to meet the demands of modern downhill racing.

The new Barocon Carbon has been developed in collaboration with top athletes specifically to meet the demands of modern downhill racing. The focus is on maximum safety, low weight, sophisticated ventilation and an innovative combination of materials – tailored to the high speeds and technical challenges of today’s DH tracks. The carbon outer shell fuses with the EPS inner shell to form a single piece. This sandwich construction increases structural strength whilst reducing weight. The in-mould construction allows for large ventilation openings without compromising stability. To ensure protection at higher speeds, POC had the helmet certified to the DOT standard FMVSS 218. The tests were based on the European motorcycle standard ECE R22.06.

The perfect combination: the POC Barocon helmet and Zygon goggles

To go with the Barocon Carbon POC has launched the new Zygon Goggles in the range. It features wide side panels for an extended field of vision and an angled headband developed specifically for the Barocon. This ensures even pressure on the face and ensures the goggles are positioned perfectly for racing.

Thanks to the cylindrical lenses and Clarity by POC technology, the goggles’ ventilation can be easily adjusted for optimum airflow and a high level of comfort. The three-layer face foam moulds perfectly to the contours of the face. A layer of Coolmax fabric in direct contact with the skin provides pleasant cooling, even at high racing speeds.

Competing in the Downhill World Cup

At the start of this season, POC announced its partnership with the Norco adidas Race Division. Under a multi-year agreement covering riders’ clothing, goggles, helmets and protective gear, Norco became the team’s main partner in the UCI Downhill World Series. This marks POC’s return to the Downhill World Cup. The team has been riding the new Barocon Carbon and wearing Zygon goggles since the start of the season.
