This helps against cold and wet feet
Bikers prefer their feet to be dry and warm. The market offers a wide range of solutions for this. We show you what provides the best protection in rain, snow, cold or mud.

Thick socks, overshoes or lined winter shoes - mountain bikers have all kinds of options when it comes to choosing footwear. The weather check shortly before the MTB tour decides what to put on your feet. If you only want to keep your toes warm for the first few kilometres in the shade, put on toe caps. If the tour takes you through damp terrain or if it might rain, waterproof socks are a good choice. Overshoes cover the widest range of applications. They are the intermediate of bike clothing, so to speak. MTB winter shoes, on the other hand, are pure specialists. They can withstand the icy cold for several hours.

If you have these bike accessories at home, you can postpone the decision until the last minute and keep it like in Formula 1: slick, intermediate or rain tyres - racers often only decide a few minutes before the start which tyre they will use to chase the best time - depending on the weather conditions.

MTB winter shoes The absolute specialists when it comes to insulation and moisture protection. However, winter shoes are really only for frosty days. Even at slightly above-zero temperatures, you'll be standing in your own juice. Another weak point here: Water penetrating the upper.
