They have the sex appeal of felt slippers, but you still don't want to do without them in mud and rain: Overshoes. Five MTB models put to the test.

Shoes move in the direct mud line of the tyres when biking. This may be pleasant and refreshing in summer temperatures. On cool autumn days, wet feet will at best cause a cold shiver down your back. Waterproof overshoes not only keep water and mud away from your feet. In the best case scenario, a roughened inside also keeps your feet warm. We have tested these five models for you.

You can find these mountain bike overshoes in the test:

- BBB Waterflex
- Endura MT500
- Mavic Trail H2O Shoe Cover
- Northwave H2Optimum
- Pro Endure H2O

Stefan Frey is from Lower Bavaria and loves the mossy, loamy trails of the Bavarian Forest as much as the rugged rock of the Dolomites. For technical descents, he is prepared to tackle almost any ascent - under his own steam. As an accessories specialist, he is the first port of call for questions about equipment and add-on parts, while as head of copywriting he sweeps the language crumbs from the pages of the BIKE print editions.
