The footbed, advertised by Specialized as "High Performace Footbed", is comfortable, and together with the stiff carbon midsole, the foot tires pleasantly little even on long rides. The X-Link ratchet fastener in combination with the two Velcro straps works well and quickly, but had durability problems on the inside of the foot during the test. The stowage tabs for the plastic strap of the ratchet system tore out in the first season, with the result that the excess length rubbed annoyingly against the crank. The sole is grippy and can easily cope with a longer carrying passage, the toe stop is stable and provides effective protection against painful contact with rocks. Ventilation in summer temperatures is excellent thanks to the six mesh inserts on the forefoot, while overshoes are recommended in cooler temperatures.
