Barely a year into the endurance test and the successor to the SH-MT90 is already on the scene. As the SH-MT91 with the addition "Mountain Touring", it still has to prove whether it can top the previous model. Looking more like a hiking boot than a delicate bike shoe, the Alpencross lives up to its name and is primarily recommended for adventurers who value durability over lightweight.

The boot offers a very good fit, protects against twisting in rough terrain and, thanks to the Gore-Tex membrane, can withstand heavy rain and low temperatures. The hardness of the sole is perfectly adequate for biking and the pre-moulded, grippy Vibram sole means that even longer hiking/pushing passages are no problem.

***** (max. 6 stars)

CONCLUSIONSolid bike boot for alpine crosses and demanding terrain. Good fit and moisture protection are included.
