Five Ten has given its Trailcross shoe a weather version called GTX. It has a high neoprene shaft and a breathable Gore-Tex membrane.

After two months of use in winter, the shoe keeps its promise. Even when we held the shower head on the shoe for a minute to imitate heavy rain, our feet remained dry. Very good! The upper with Velcro strap closes tightly. The tried and tested rubber compound, which Five Ten calls Stealth Phantom, provides the usual amount of grip. Thanks to the flexible sole, the shoe is comfortable to wear even when pushing. The Five Ten engineers have thought of features such as heel and toe protection. We've ridden the shoe in winter so far, and there was nothing to complain about in terms of ventilation. We can't yet say whether our feet start to sweat in temperatures above fifteen degrees - we'll have to wait until spring for that.

What counts for him is not how fast you get from A to B, but what happens in between. Lehner writes reports, interviews scene celebrities and tests products and bikes - preferably those with a lot of suspension travel.
