A pocket-sized shoe? A sole that can be rolled up? A shoe that is easy to pack and still comfortable? Keyword: barefoot shoe. At first glance, this item may not appear to be for bikers, but we outdoor sports enthusiasts can also benefit from this new development. Inspired by the Japanese packaging art of Furoshiki, the rubber specialist Vibram - which became famous for its Five-Fingers barefoot shoes (running shoes in the shape of a foot with five toes), among other things - has now presented an innovation.
The Vibram Furoshiki is named after its source of inspiration and is actually primarily a robust rubber sole that is held on the foot by means of an ingenious wrapping system. You could almost say that it is a sock with a grippy sole suitable for outdoor use. The elasticated design is attached to the foot with Velcro strips and adapts perfectly to the shape of the foot. Breathability should also be particularly good.
Less shoe is hardly possible: rolled up small, the Furoshiki takes up very little space and fits into even the smallest rucksacks. However, at 99.90 euros, the Furoshiki is very expensive. Compared to hotel bathing slippers, which are perhaps similarly light and compact, the Vibram soles for strapping on score points with their significantly firmer fit on the foot, better grip and higher "puncture resistance".
