Shimano is expanding its range of cross-country MTB shoes with several new and revised models. The Japanese company is presenting a wide range of shoes for different requirements and price categories. The highlight of the collection is the new S-PHYRE XC903W, a high-end racing shoe specially developed for women. The line-up also includes other models ranging from professional level to entry-level. All shoes benefit from Shimano's S-PHYRE technology, which ensures optimum power transmission and comfort. According to the manufacturer, the new models are characterised by an improved fit, greater durability and better control in off-road terrain.
The S-PHYRE XC903W was developed specifically for the needs of world-class cross-country and cyclocross racers. It is based on the Men's model XC903, but has been adapted to the female foot shape. Two flat BOA Li2 twist fasteners allow precise adjustment of the fit, even while riding. The lower fastener is additionally protected against unintentional release in the event of impact. A special heel cap with anti-twist stabilisation is designed to provide optimum support during intensive sprints and high cadence.
The upper material of the 304 gram shoe (size 43) has perforations in various sizes. According to Shimano, these are designed to increase breathability and adapt to different foot shapes. A lightweight SHIMANO ULTREAD XC rubber outsole with a technical profile is used for grip on slippery surfaces. The low-profile carbon sole is designed to enable efficient power transmission throughout the day. The S-PHYRE XC903W is available in sizes from 36 to 44 and has a recommended retail price of 379.95 euros.
With the XC703 and XC703W models (women's version), Shimano presents trail-ready racing shoes in the upper middle class. According to the manufacturer, they combine comfort and performance at an attractive price of 229.95 euros. A carbon-reinforced midsole with a low profile is designed to stabilise the foot for an efficient pedalling motion. As with the top model, an ULTREAD rubber sole provides grip in off-road terrain. The seamless upper material encloses the foot precisely and should offer all-day comfort. Two BOA L6 twist fasteners enable precise adjustments, with the lower fastener protected from impacts by a protective mechanism. With a weight of 322 grams (size 43) and a stiffness value of 9 (out of 12), the XC703 models are designed for ambitious riders. They are available in the colours black, silver and butterfly; the women's version is available in black. The size range extends from 38 to 50, with half sizes from 41.5 to 46.5 and wide sizes from 40 to 48. The women's sizes range from 36 to 44.
The XC503 and XC503W models are aimed at beginners who are looking for a light and stiff cross-country shoe. According to Shimano, they combine technologies from high-end road cycling shoes with an attractive price-performance ratio of 169.95 euros. The carbon-reinforced nylon sole is made from recycled material and, in combination with the seamless upper material, should ensure maximum power transfer and stability. A single BOA L6C twist lock with rubberised surface and protective cover allows for quick and easy adjustment while riding. With a weight of 310 grams (size 43) and a stiffness value of 7, the XC503 models are slightly less designed for racing than the more expensive versions. They are available in the colours black, sand beige and ice blue, while the women's version is available in black and sand beige. The size range includes 40 to 48 in standard sizes, 40 to 50 in wide sizes and 36 to 44 for women.
With the XC302 and XC302W models, Shimano brings technology from its high-end cross-country and road cycling shoes to an attractive price-performance ratio of 119.95 euros. The shoes feature a new BOA closure with protective cover and revised lacing. According to the manufacturer, this should ensure even more foot stability and maximum power transmission. A secure, glove-like fit and the grippy rubber sole should ensure comfort and efficiency on and off the bike. With a weight of 308 grams (size 43) and a stiffness value of 5, the XC302 models are designed for beginners and occasional riders. They are available in the colours black, ice grey and brown, while the women's version is available in black and surf blue. The size range extends from 40 to 48 in standard sizes, 40 to 52 in wide sizes and 36 to 44 for women.
The new SHIMANO XC102 and XC102W are versatile, attractively priced cycling shoes with a flat, seamless nylon sole that is ideal for both outdoor and indoor riding. They offer a successful balance of comfort, power transmission and good walking ability - a stylish and affordable entry-level shoe.
In addition to the XC range, SHIMANO presents the revised RC503 and RC503W mid-range road shoes. These shoes offer high-quality road bike technology at an attractive price. The breathable, lightweight upper material ensures a high level of comfort and a perfect fit, while the carbon-reinforced nylon sole made from recycled material offers the desired stiffness and stability of a high-end shoe.
