After two years of continuous use, the Velcro fasteners still hold perfectly, despite initial doubts. The two straps also allow quick adjustment while riding if the shoe is too loose. Although this doesn't work as quickly as with a Boa dial, it is also less susceptible to dirt.
Although the X4s are true to size, they tend to fit narrower feet. To ensure that thicker socks still fit, you may need to choose half a size larger, which the Italians allow from size 37 upwards. The rather plain insole has been replaced with a customised one, which noticeably improves comfort.
The walking and hiking sections in particular have left visible marks on the shoe and rubbed down the sparse profile so that the cleats touch the ground when running. The X4 is therefore primarily recommended as a lightweight and inexpensive shoe for fast laps with little ground contact.
