Feel-good piece: The Lake MX 175 is a comfortable shoe for mountain bike racers with good cushioning qualities.

After a year and a half in the mud and dirt, the battered pair only held on to the tester's feet with their last ounce of strength. But reporter Lesewitz dragged out the last hour day after day: he felt so comfortable in the MX175 that they felt like body parts. No, the sporty mid-range model from Lake is not particularly light. And yes, there are racing shoes with stiffer soles. But when it comes to comfort, the MX 175 is the best. Thanks to the BOA twist lock, they mould themselves to your feet evenly and without pressure points. The fibreglass-reinforced nylon soles are so generously covered with rubber studs that even longer marches can be mastered without any problems. The fact that only fragments of the tread remain is not due to the manufacturing quality, but to an incident during a stage race in South Africa. Days of riding in the mud had ground the brake pads down to the metal, which is why Lesewitz braked for 60 kilometres using only the soles of his shoes. It's crazy that they were able to withstand that. Over time, the BOA cords no longer slipped quite so smoothly. At some point, the mesh upper material tore. But the Lakes really weren't given anything. Now they rest in peace.

CONCLUSION Comfortable race shoe with good grip qualities
