Leatt is now adding cycling shoes for gravel and XC to its Endurance collection. The new Proclip series comprises 3 models with different features and price points. All shoes have a stiff sole and an aggressive profile for good grip. The Leatt collection was developed in collaboration with professional athletes.

The South African manufacturer Leatt, known for neck braces and protective equipment, is now also making inroads into endurance sports with a shoe collection. The Endurance series comprises three models for gravel and cross-country riders, which differ in terms of features and price.

All shoes in the collection are based on a particularly stiff sole construction, which according to the manufacturer is the stiffest in the Leatt range. The sole has an extended cleat channel for greater adjustability of the cleats, especially in the rear area.

The deep profile of the sole should also ensure good grip in muddy conditions. All of the models shown are available in versions for men and women, which differ in terms of the available sizes - and presumably the cut.

We tested the first models in the Leatt Endurance series last summer - and found them to be good:

Innovative heel cap for a secure hold

During development, Leatt considered more than just the external grip, but also the internal grip. The heel cap uses a fabric that runs downwards. This is designed to make it easier to slip into the shoe and at the same time prevent the heel from sliding upwards when riding.

Leatt Endurance Race Proclip 8.0: Top model with Dyneema upper material

The top model from Leatt, the Endurance Race Proclip 8.0 cycling shoe, was developed in collaboration with the Speed Company Racing Team. The Team driver Georg Egger and Lukas Baum won the Cape Epic 2022, among others, on their first participation. Lukas Baum became German Gravel Champion in 2023 and European XC MTB Marathon Champion in 2024.

The top shoe has a knitted tongue and a knitted upper made of lightweight but very robust Dyneema upper material. Two MOZ cable laces - a competitor to the better-known BOA system - are combined with a D-ring developed by Leatt. These guide the lacing so that the straps can be adjusted over the back of the foot and a wide variety of feet.

Midsole made from carbon fibre-reinforced nylon

The midsole of the Endurance Race Proclip 8.0 is made of injection-moulded nylon, to which short carbon fibres are added for reinforcement. The shoe comes with two sets of removable insoles: one with a more standard fit (red) and one for wide feet (blue). The Endurance Race Proclip 8.0 is available in black and white. The sizes range from US 6/UK 5.5/EU 38.5/CM 24 to US 13/UK 12.5/EU 48.5/CM 31. The recommended retail price (RRP) is 259 euros.

Leatt Endurance Proclip 8.0: Mid-range model with ripstop upper material

The mid-range model Leatt Endurance Proclip 8.0 - without the "Race" suffix - comes with just one MOZ cable lacing system, not two. In addition, the upper material is made of ripstop instead of the lighter Dyneema. These two changes reduce the price to 229 euros. The Leatt Endurance Proclip 8.0 is available in black, white/brown and an orange colour called "Art".

Entry-level model Leatt Endurance Proclip 6.0 with less stiff nylon sole

Although the entry-level Endurance Proclip 6.0 model from Leatt has the same sole construction as the higher-end models, it is made of 100 per cent pure nylon without the carbon fibre reinforcement.

This makes the shoe less stiff, but still foot-supporting and significantly more comfortable when walking. With a conventional tongue construction and only one set of insoles, the Leatt Endurance Proclip 6.0 is available in the colours black and white for 199 euros.

Extended clothing collection

In addition to the new XC and gravel shoes, Leatt has also expanded its endurance clothing collection. This now comprises 16 models for women and 24 for men, including bib shorts, jerseys, waistcoats and jackets. The entire collection is available on the Leatt website at leatt.com/int/endurance25
