You can expect a lot from the new Giro MTB shoe. The shoe and helmet specialists from the mountain bike stronghold of Santa Cruz want to build the "best trail shoe in the world" with the Formula - as they themselves have announced. Giro wants to appeal to trail bikers and XC riders with its new shoe collection. The US company also has a version for women in its programme. The Formula is the trail shoe in the portfolio. It is characterised by a single Boa closure (L6), a double-layer carbon plate in the sole and carbon cores in the cleats. What sounds like a lot of technology should make the shoe light, stable and comfortable to wear at the same time. Cost of the Giro Formula trail shoe: 239.95 euros.
The Pro version of the new Giro MTB shoe has the same technology as its little brother. However, the Formula Pro is clearly aimed at cross-country bikers who are looking to save every gram in their quest for the last few seconds. To keep the weight as low as possible, a carbon plate is also used in the sole of the shoe, which is designed to transfer as much power as possible from the rider to the pedals. The lugs are large so that there is no lack of grip on the side of the bike when running. To save weight here too, the cores of the cleats are made of carbon. To improve the fit and adjustment options, the Pro version has two Boa twist fasteners. According to the manufacturer, the Giro Formula Pro weighs just 420 grams. The price for the new MTB shoe from Giro is 269.95 euros.
