For frequent riders: 3 MTB winter shoes in check
The extremities cool down particularly quickly in winter. But warm mountain bike shoes with a good fit are hard to find. We tested three current models.

Especially for frequent riders - whether commuters or year-round bikers - it's worth taking a look at special winter shoes. We have tested three new models and tell you how the models from 45NRTH, Fizik and Northwave fare.

45 NRTH Ragnarök

Slim and sporty cut winter boot with great power transmission. The Ragnarök is not too thickly lined, but it keeps you dry even in nasty conditions. The wide Velcro strap makes it easy to get on, but the neoprene shaft could be a little higher. Top mountain bike shoe for sporty use.

PLUS Good acceleration, easy entry, Boa fastening, reflective

MINUS Short neoprene shaft

Price 229,99 Euro

FIZIK Terra Artica X2

Fizik's new MTB winter shoe is robust, waterproof and perfectly made. The grippy sole scores points when walking, but feels a little less stiff on the pedals. The toe area is very wide and not quite as warm as Northwave's. Despite the zip on the upper, getting into the shoe is extremely awkward.

PLUS Robust, non-slip sole

MINUS Expensive, moderately insulated, low stiffness, difficult to put on

NORTHWAVE X-Raptor Arctic GTX

Despite its fluffy, soft lining, the X-Raptor is still comfortable to wear. The robust upper material reliably keeps out the cold and wet. The sole is stiff and particularly grippy. The high shaft offers good protection, but makes it difficult to get on. Can pinch slightly at the transition to the shaft.

PLUS Good fit, very why and weatherproof, grippy sole

MINUS A little wide, awkward to put on, twist lock

Price 249,99 Euro
