With the new Trailcross family, Five Ten has four new models for bikers at the start. The low-cut Trailcross LT provides the entry point. Its upper is made from a lightweight yet durable mesh material to keep feet cool even on hot days. The material is also said to dry extremely quickly. To remove moisture from the shoe even faster, the Trailcross LT has drainage openings on the sides. If you get caught in a rain shower, the water should be able to run off quickly through the openings.
The sole of the Trailcross LT is perfectly tailored to the needs of bikers in alpine terrain and has been equipped with Stealth PH rubber compound. The pedal surface is slightly reinforced and the classic Five Ten Dots are designed to offer maximum grip while riding. Under the heel and on the toe are so-called hiking zones, whose profile is designed to provide better grip when carrying and pushing.
The Trailcross LT weighs just 360 grams and is therefore very light. The price is 130 euros.
The Trailcross Mid Pro is the more stable version and should offer the feet significantly more protection. The drainage openings are closed on the Mid Pro. The upper has been pulled far up over the ankles and reinforced with a D3O insert to protect against impacts. A neoprene gaiter is designed to keep dirt and moisture away from the inside of the shoe. The weight increases to around 420 grams and the price is 150 euros.
The third model in the group is again a somewhat lighter bike and hike model, with good moisture management and solid heel support. The neoprene shaft keeps dirt away from the feet. As with the LT, the sole is designed for maximum grip when climbing, but should also provide a secure hold on the pedals. It costs 140 euros.
For 170 euros, Five Ten now also has a waterproof Gor Tex shoe in its range. The Trailcross Mid GTX is similar to the XT in terms of features, but comes with a complete Gore Tex liner that extends all the way up the shaft. If you like battling through mud puddles on your bike, this shoe should be a reliable partner.
