The shoe specialists from California are surfing the wave of success. Almost every gravity biker relies on the footwear with the miracle sole. The latest development is the so-called "Stealth Mi6" rubber.

The shoe sticks even more intensely into the pedal pins, so that downhill worldcupper Brook McDonald says: "It's like riding without being clicked in!" We can confirm that. The grip is tremendous - as if a fly's foot had got caught in the spider's web. With long pins, the grip is almost too strong. The leather of the "Elements" shoe has been coated with polyurethane plastic to make it waterproof, especially for autumn and spring. We chased it through the rain and were happy to have dry feet. It all works wonderfully.

Great: the robust, high-quality workmanship. Five Ten really has the edge over the competition.

The only point of criticism: the waterproof construction means that comfort suffers a little. The foot is not quite as snugly enclosed and comfortably padded as with the other "Freerider" models. That takes some getting used to.

PLUS waterproof, workmanship, grip
MINUS Wearing comfort, ventilation

CONCLUSION Great for muddy weather now in autumn and soon in spring. You'll have to compromise on comfort and ventilation. Super: the enormous grip.
