Finally: putting on knee pads without having to take off your shoes. No problem thanks to the zip. But can the zips on the MTB knee protectors withstand the constant tensile load when pedalling?

Our BIKE tester has now been wearing Ion knee protectors for 2.5 years - and the protectors are still in good shape. The zips are a little sluggish, but still close perfectly. The mesh fabric has a small hole, but it doesn't expand and is hardly noticeable. We are used to much more disintegration from other schooners. When they were new, the K-Pact Zip were a little tight and pinched, but once they were worn in they turned into comfortable companions. So our tip: don't buy too big. The pads still widen. The K-Pact Zip also stand up to bike park use, as shown by the strong result in the TÜV impact test. There are lighter and more compact protectors for shallow trail laps.

Test summary of the ION K-Pact Zip knee pad

We were pleasantly surprised by the durability of the Ion K-Pact knee protectors! The zip makes everyday cycling much easier. Once you get used to it, you won't want to miss out on the added comfort.
