The trend towards single-speed drivetrains is nothing new, but last year Sram took the wind out of the sails of the opponents of single-speed drivetrains: With the wider range of the 12-speed drivetrain (500 per cent), the argument of the reduced range of use of 11-speed drivetrains (420 per cent) became null and void. The fact that the concept with the disc-sized sprocket set works has already been proven. our tests of the Sram Eagle drivetrain have shown.
Sram's engineering expertise goes back to Fichtel & Sachs, which produced ball bearings and hubs. The complete Sram Eagle unit was developed as a whole in Schweinfurt. This allowed all parts to be harmonised and tested.
