Sram XX1: Update for the 2015 season
The XX1 is the queen of Sram's eleven-speed groupsets. It has been given a facelift for the 2015 season and is now available in black for the first time.

After Sram only launched a new Direct Mount chainring for its 1x11 drivetrains has now been followed by an update to the top-of-the-range XX1. The new XX1 is completely black for the 2015 season and naturally comes with the new X-Sync direct mount chainring, which saves around 25-50 grams on the crank compared to the previous version.

The XX1 is also only available with a single chainring, i.e. as a 1x11 drivetrain. For bikers who have converted their double gears to 1x11 and no longer need the direct mount front derailleur mount on their bike, SRAM offers a milled aluminium plate. It covers the front derailleur mount. Also newly available are small "overshoes" that can be pulled over the crank ends to protect them from stone contact when touching down.

This cover plate can be used to cover a mount for a high direct mount front derailleur. It is intended to be a statement for purists and costs €13.33

XX1 2015: Changes rather marginal

Otherwise, the changes to the XX1 are rather marginal compared to last year. The design of the front derailleur and the gear lever has been changed slightly. It remains to be seen whether the chain and sprocket set have become even lighter.
