Fitting the rear derailleur
Insert the lightly greased fastening screw into the thread of the derailleur hanger using a 5 mm Allen key. Turn the screw backwards one turn to make it easier to find the start of the thread.
2. note B adjusting screw
Keep an eye on the adjusting screw for the wrap angle during assembly (for Sram: rotating profile lettering). To screw it on, you must push the rear derailleur slightly backwards axially.
3. range limitation
You will find these adjusting screws on every rear derailleur: They regulate how far the rear derailleur moves the chain in the direction of the large (= low gear, L as in "low") or small sprocket (= high gear, H as in "high").
4. inner stop
Shift into 1st gear. The rear derailleur cage must be positioned vertically under the largest sprocket. The chain must not fall inwards off the sprocket as far as it will go during the shifting process (adjusting screw L).
5. outer stop
Shift into the heaviest gear. The cage must now be exactly vertical under the smallest sprocket. When shifting with momentum, the chain must not fall outwards from the sprocket (adjusting screw H).
6. set the wrap angle
Put the chain on the largest sprocket and the smallest chainring at the front. Crank backwards. Use the B-screw to position the upper derailleur pulley so close to the sprocket that there are no more than two chain links between them.
