This is the route of the BIKE Transalp 2019
The new route for the BIKE Transalp 2019 was officially announced today - with completely new trails and locations! Another innovation: for the first time, individual starters can take part in the stage race.

The starting signal for the 22nd edition of the BIKE Transalp will be given for the first time on 14 July 2019 in Tux in the Zillertal. But it's not just the start location of the Transalp that is celebrating its premiere in 2019 at the mother of all mountain bike stage races in the world: the new stage location of Molveno in Trentino-Alto Adige, where up to 1000 mountain bikers will arrive on 20 July, will also replace Riva del Garda as the finish location in Transalp history for the first time. In addition to the traditional team classification, there will also be an individual classification for the first time next year. The 2019 Transalp route comprises seven stages and a total distance of 550 kilometres and 18,500 metres in altitude.

New trail on the Tuxer Joch, in the Bikepark Brixen and the Carezza Trail

Since the beginning, many thousands of mountain bikers have been able to experience the Transalp myth, many of them are repeat offenders - so far always in teams of two. This will change in 2019. Because among the 1000 starting places, there will be a single starter contingent limited to 200 starting places for the five classification categories of men, women, men Masters aged 40 and over, men Grand Masters aged 60 and over and for the U23 classification.

The entry fee for team and individual riders is 899 euros per person. U23 riders receive a starting place for 699 euros. The route, meticulously planned by race and route director Marc Schneider, with the three new stage locations of Tux, Welschnofen in South Tyrol and Molveno, is peppered with numerous trail sections that have never been ridden on a Transalp before. A very special highlight awaits the international field of participants at the finish on the shores of Lago di Molveno with its impressive mountain backdrop.

"The Transalp includes everything the Alps have to offer mountain bikers: Completely new panoramic trails in the high mountains such as the new trail from the Tuxer Joch into the Schirntal valley or fun trails such as the flowing "Jerry-Line" in the Bikepark Brixen or the Carezza Trail in Welschnofen," says Marc Schneider, explaining some of the new sections in the coming year.

"The Transalp leads through the heart of the Dolomites, on trails in the middle of the panoramic cinema in the Unesco World Heritage Site and even after the Dolomites, Trentino still offers some trail treasures." (Marc Schneider, route manager of the BIKE Transalp)
