He gathers filmmakers, photographers, stunt doubles and a renowned director in the Saalbach bike park to present the new POC helmets, kneepads, elbow pads, goggles and sunglasses in "Wibmer style". But the production doesn't start off well: first Fabio's stunt double gets injured, so the Austrian actually has to perform his own stunts. The director also has his own ideas about what makes a good production. But none of this detracts from the production and the somewhat different clip is more than worth watching:
How my 9to5 looks like when we are filming video. This time we wanted to shoot a commercial for my new signature line with POC. It kind of worked...
Mountain bike ace and YouTube star Fabio Wibmer and the protection experts POC Sports are refining their almost six-year collaboration with an eight-part signature series. The Fabio Wibmer Collection consists of three helmets (full-face, enduro and street), two pairs of sunglasses, a goggle, knee pads and elbow pads. The stylish products, designed by Fabio himself, shine in the 25-year-old's signature white, black and gold colour scheme and bear his signature. Some of them also feature other Fabio-specific details.
"Riding a new line, creating a new trick or dropping out of a helicopter on a bike requires a conviction that comes from talent, hours of practice and absolute confidence in your equipment. Confidence in this equipment, which has been tested to its limits, allows riders like Fabio to break with convention and try out new ideas. No matter what limits Fabio sets himself, we've got his back. With the collection designed exclusively with him, we celebrate not only his riding style and safety on the bike, but also the limitless potential of what is possible on a bike," says Oscar Huss, Head of Product Development at POC.
The new POC Fabio Wibmer Collection is presented for the first time in the ten-minute YouTube clip "Shooting a video - My 9to5". The not entirely serious production confronts Fabio with unexpected difficulties: First his stunt double cancels, then the pedantic director keeps Fabio and the rest of the crew on their toes and drives them to the brink of exhaustion and mutiny in equal measure. The result is a wonderful mixture of stylish riding and a tongue-in-cheek look behind the scenes of video production. And of course there's the famous Fabio banger at the end.
"My signature collection has turned out super cool and I'm very grateful to POC for realising such a series with me on this scale. I particularly like the stylised '25 Stairs' from my Urban Freeride Lives 3 video on the helmets," explains the Austrian bike star: "The video production in Saalbach was also really fun, as we did away with super spectacular tricks and made the whole thing a fun behind-the-scenes experience."
"Shooting a video - My 9to5" was filmed by RASOULUTION in Saalbach in August 2020.
